CERM-BUET organized opening ceremony on Professional Capacity Development Program on Managing Environmental and Social Risks in World Bank Funded Projects with collaboration with the WORLD BANK
The ESF promotes green, resilient, and inclusive development by strengthening human and environmental protections and making significant advances in labor, inclusion and non-discrimination, gender, climate change, biodiversity, community health and safety, and stakeholder engagement. It employs a risk-based and proportionate approach to complex projects, allowing for greater responsiveness to changes in project circumstances through adaptive risk management and stakeholder engagement. It encourages the management of both environmental and social risks. CERM-BUET and the WORLD BANK jointly organized a professional capacity development course on 'Managing Environmental and Social Risks in World Bank Funded Projects' with collaboration with the WORLD BANK on 15 February, 2023, at Council Building, BUET, Dhaka, to sensitize and capacitate National consultants, environmental and social specialists, project director and manager, Land Acquisition and Resettlement Specialists, Environmental and Social Expert, Civil and Environmental Engineer, academicians, students and researchers on ESF course.
The CERM of BUET in association with World Bank is offering this course with an objective of enhancing the capacity of the sector professionals through clear understanding of various environmental and social issues, the regulatory framework of the government of Bangladesh and the World Bank while planning and implementation projects funded by the World Bank.
Chief Guest Professor Dr. Satya Prasad Majumder (Honorable Vice-Chancellor, BUET), Special Guests Professor Dr. Abdul Jabbar Khan (Pro-Vice Chancellor, BUET) and Robin Mearns (Practice Manager, SSI Global Practice, the World Bank), Guest of Honor Professor Dr. Md. Delwar Hossain (Dean, Faculty of Civil Engineering, BUET) and Chair Professor Dr. Md. Mafizur Rahman (Director, CERM BUET) facilitated interactively designed sessions of the opening ceremony.
