The Closing Ceremony of the Dhaka Engineering Diplomacy Workshop 2026 marked the successful conclusion of three days of dialogue, collaboration, and action-oriented learning on 27 August 2026 at the InterContinental Dhaka.
The closing ceremony brought together participants from the Water, Energy, and Cybersecurity Diplomacy thematic workshops. Organized by the Centre for Environmental and Resource Management (CERM), BUET, in collaboration with Tufts University, USA, the ceremony celebrated the collective commitment to advancing the Engineering Diplomacy initiative in Bangladesh.
The evening served as a meaningful reunion of the three thematic groups—creating a space for participants to reconnect, exchange insights across sectors, strengthen professional networks, and reflect on the actionable pathways developed during the workshops. More importantly, it reinforced a shared vision of continuing this collaboration beyond the workshop through partnerships, institutional engagement, and sustained leadership in Engineering Diplomacy.
A special acknowledgment goes to Prof. Dr. Shafiqul Islam, Tufts University, whose vision and leadership initiated the Engineering Diplomacy initiative and helped establish this collaborative platform in Bangladesh, with CERM, BUET serving as its organizing hub.
As one chapter closes, the journey continues toward building a sustainable Engineering Diplomacy Program in Bangladesh through continued collaboration, shared learning, and collective action.
