Training program on “Addressing Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, and Sexual Harassment (SEA/SH) in Development Projects Based on World Bank ESF Standards”

The Centre for Environmental and Resource Management (CERM), BUET, under the BD ES Learning Center initiative, successfully conducted the training program on “Addressing Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, and Sexual Harassment (SEA/SH) in Development Projects Based on World Bank ESF Standards” in two batches on 18–19 August 2026 and 1–2 September 2026.

The two-day training aimed to strengthen the capacity of professionals to understand, identify, prevent, report, and respond to SEA/SH risks in development projects in line with the World Bank Environmental and Social Framework (ESF).

Through expert-led sessions, interactive discussions, and practical learning, participants explored key areas including:

• Understanding SEA/SH principles under the World Bank ESF
• Identifying and managing SEA/SH risks in development projects
• Strengthening prevention, reporting, and response mechanisms
• Developing effective SEA/SH Action Plans
• Improving reporting and referral practices
• Promoting survivor-centered approaches in project implementation

The training brought together PIU staff, relevant government officials, NGO professionals, and representatives from UN agencies, providing a platform for knowledge sharing and strengthening institutional capacity to address SEA/SH risks effectively.
