Dr. Md. Mafizur Rahman is a Professor of Environmental Engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He obtained his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, in 1992, and his M.Sc. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the same institution in 1994. He later completed his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Tokyo, Japan, in 1997.
His research interests encompass groundwater pollution and recharge, environmental and water resources engineering with applications of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and urban air pollution in the context of climate change. His work also includes environmental impact assessment, climate change impacts on food security, climate change and water environment, and the development of alternative water resources in urban and rural areas of developing countries.
