Dr. S. M. Faisal Mahmood is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), specializing in Structural Engineering. He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from The University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia, in 2020. Prior to that, he completed his Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) from The University of Melbourne, Australia, in 2012, and his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Civil Engineering from BUET, Dhaka, in 2009.
Dr. Mahmood’s research focuses on advanced materials and innovative technologies in structural engineering. His areas of interest include fibre reinforced concrete (FRC), high and ultra-high performance concrete (HPC and UHPC), and smart materials. He is also engaged in the application of machine learning techniques in structural engineering, particularly in the context of structural health monitoring and performance assessment.
