Pleased to share the successful completion of the two-day professional training program on “Addressing ES Issues in Bidding Document and Contract Management”, organized by the CERM, BUET with support from the World Bank on 09–10 May 2026.

The training brought together professionals from diverse sectors to strengthen practical understanding of integrating Environmental and Social (E&S) considerations into procurement, bidding documents, and contract management processes in line with the Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) and national regulatory requirements.
The sessions covered a wide range of critical topics including ESS requirements for contractors, ESCP compliance, labor management and occupational health & safety practices, preparation of bid documents meeting ESF criteria, procurement and contractual frameworks, contractor’s ESMP and C-ESMP preparation, E&S due diligence, subcontracting compliance, and monitoring mechanisms for effective contract implementation.
A major focus of the program was practical application. Participants actively engaged in hands-on group exercises and supervision-based case studies on LMP/OHS practices, compliance monitoring, risk identification, preparation of monitoring checklists, and management of simulated contractual non-compliance scenarios. These interactive sessions enabled participants to connect policy and framework requirements with real-world implementation challenges.
The training was facilitated by an experienced panel of academicians, World Bank specialists, government officials, and environmental safeguard professionals. Resource persons included senior faculty members from the Department of Civil Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, specialists from the World Bank, representatives from the Government of Bangladesh, and experts with extensive field experience in environmental safeguards, occupational health and safety, infrastructure supervision, and ESF implementation across development projects.
The program concluded with participant feedback, knowledge sharing, and certificate distribution, marking another successful initiative toward strengthening E&S capacity in project procurement and contract management practices.
